"Didn't he have a name before..." Before you killed and devoured his owner? "Before he came into your custody?"
Nailed it.
It's not like Slade's got any qualms against the name. When the little guy comes sniffing around, Slade keeps still and tries not to scare him off. But after living in a monster world, this puppy probably isn't scared of much of anything.
"I'll have to be honest," He says while couching down beside him. He offers out a hand that no doubt smells of cake batter and peaches. "I've been thinking of some names of my own. Ever since you told me about him, I've been brainstorming. Micah, or Jacob... maybe Gideon." He looks up at Annie. "I'm sure you'll help me workshop something.
"Hey, go on and help yourself. Mostly all experimenting. Can't say I've perfected much of anything. Last batch was blackberry. They should still be about cooled now up on top of the stove."
"His collar said Buddy? I thought it was kind of boring," Annie admits. She thought that the dog deserved something that was more than just a key part of his personality. Lucky just wants to be friends with anyone.
"I seriously felt bad for the dog." Lucky's little tail is wagging away quickly. He obviously is fine with almost anything and even starts trying to lick Slade.
"Maybe he needs something better. I mean, he deserves so much more than he had. I think he was pretty lonely," Annie remarks as she goes in search of a scone.
"I have this sort of older cat? I named him Gomez. Anyways, Lucky kept trying to make friends. Gomez is just uh, sort of cranky? The only time he tolerated Lucky is if he was sleeping. If it weren't for that I would totally keep him."
